Hydrogen already adds 30 producers registered in Portugal
The Director General of Energy, João de Energia, revealed this Tuesday at the Parliament- Bernardo de Energia, “30 producers of energy production registered” with the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), which are already designing projects yet to be announced.
In a hearing on the investment plans of REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais in the electricity and natural gas transmission networks, João Bernardo indicated that some of the already registered producers are already testing the incorporation of small percentages of green gas into the natural gas network. , pilot projects in Seixal and Évora.
These smaller projects will be needed as distribution networks, which in the next concessionaires will use a global investment estimate close to five years, 4 million euros to adapt as networks to the group and other gases.
This hearing in Parliament, however, focused on investment plans in the gas and electricity transmission networks (operated by REN) and not on the distribution networks.
The president of the Regulatory Entity for Energy Services (ERSE), Pedro Verdelho, stated, before the deputies, that the regulator’s attitude in its opinions to new investments in natural gas is one of “prudence”, but noted that “the new investments to be made must be prepared for decarbonised gas”, either hydrogen or other renewable gases.
In Parliament, Director of Energy and Geology, details about the latest generation producers have not been submitted to the DGEG, but in the months they have multiplied mainly as investment intentions in this area, taking advantage of the support that the State has already promised to leverage projects of green and other renewable gases.
The first notice for this purpose, launched this year and backed by last year’s investment, made available 62 million euros of funds attracted from last year’s closed application.
Parallel Government intends to launch an auction in the area of the model, for the use of production and consumption prices of this resource, which could be a relevant solution in the carbon industry.
