Florence Rugby 1931: the words of the president Fabio Stellini – Italian Rugby Championship Series C1 and C2 – Rugbymeet
In social media, as sometimes happens, some statements are misinterpreted. We speak in particular of the interview with Sebastian Rodwellplayer of the Florence Rugby This is because Florence fielded former Medici players who until a year and a half earlier were playing in Serie A. “It was not useful to us and it was not useful to our opponents to win or lose by 80 points” Rodwell commented referring to the wide technical gap, the interview is available at this link. The Firenze Rugby club wanted to clarify its position with respect to the comments that appeared on the social networks.
I take the opportunity that Rugbymeet offers me, which I thank, to clarify the position of Firenze Rugby 1931 on the article and the related comments on the statements of our player Sebastian Rodwell.
I talked to him and I want to emphasize that some interpretations of his words do not owe to his intentions or even to the ones we try to instill in our children from an early age.
It was a difficult season and our team had to face the difficulties of a double relegation together with those of one that still scored this championship too.
However, it was also an important and satisfying season that saw us get up again after two years of suspension of the desired players and obtain the promotion goal we had set for ourselves. For this I thank the players, the technical and management staff but also the teams we have met in this Serie C championship, all of whom have demonstrated fairness and sportsmanship.
For us it is always an honor and a pleasure to confront any opponent but particularly this season with teams linked to our territory with whom we have had the pleasure of exchanging useful experiences.
I would like to thank them all, together with the Cadet of Lyons Piacenza, a team of great quality, for the fair play that has shown us by granting us the postponement in the first leg final and to which I wish you the best for next season.
