According to the fire brigade, the container with the caustic solution had been damaged on a truck. 45 emergency services moved to the company premises on Hägenstraße, which was immediately cordoned off. First, the 1000 liter container was secured. This prevented the ferric chloride from spilling further and spreading across the site. Leaked material was sprinkled with binding agent.
Fire brigade operation lasts until the afternoon
Firefighters then pumped the chemical from the damaged container into a healing container. “There was never any danger to the surrounding population and the release of operations,” says fire department spokesman Tobias Slabon.
