Festivals – Berlin – Giffey celebrates her first court festival as City Hall boss – culture
Berlin (dpa / bb) – Berlin’s governing mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) celebrated her first court festival as mayor on Tuesday with thousands of guests. Up to 3800 invited visitors from politics, business, science, diplomacy, culture, media and sport were expected in the courtyards of the Red Town Hall and on the forecourt. For them there was food and drinks as well as a stage program and music. In addition, companies, associations and initiatives presented themselves in various forms. The motto of the evening is “Future Capital”.
Giffey explained at the festival that the motto was the leitmotif of the new red-green-red Senate, because Berlin should remain a success story in the future. The city enjoys a great reputation worldwide. Its start-up scene is booming, it is attractive to talented and creative minds and a respected location for science and technology.
“But above all, Berlin is and will remain the city of freedom and the city of social cohesion and solidarity,” says Giffey. This could be experienced during the pandemic as well as with the reception of refugees since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. Giffey thanked the guests at the farm party. All connected passionate commitments for the city.
The annual farm festivals – this is the 20th edition – include the social highlights in Berlin and are considered to be an opportunity to get to know each other and exchange ideas. In 2020 and 2021 they will be canceled due to Corona. The event is organized by the state-owned marketing company Berlin-Partner on behalf of the Senate Chancellery. Most of the costs are covered by sponsors. In addition, according to the Senate Chancellery, 40,000 euros are earmarked for the event.
