Economist Conference – Tsounis: Greece is always on the right side of history
“It’s relatively easy to be an ambassador for USA in Hellas compared to before thirty yearsas the USA they have values and interests that intersect with the corresponding Greek ones”, stressed Mr American Ambassador, George Tsunisduring 26th round table discussion of Economist which begins in Lagonisi under the title “Antitheses, transformations, achievements in a changing world”.
Noted the two countries rely on values of democracyas well as respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
“I’m shocked, like all of us, to see her attack on Ukraine. I never thought that in 2020 we will see something like this”, he said characteristically and added:
“We have to pledge that we will continue to support them Ukrainians that we will continue to support peace and ensure that as soon as possible he can return to a free and independent Ukraine.”
THE American ambassador underlined the importance it has for the USA to have partners to solve global challenges. THE Hellashe added, operates with specific practices based on principles and values and is a reliable partner.
“He is always on the right side of history and provides examples of leadership in the wider region,” he stressed.
He said that during his term he would like to see more American investment in order for the USA to help her Hellas to become “not just a major defense partner, but an energy hub and a prosperous model economy in the 21st century.
As pointed out this has important positive positives and in all the Balkans.
“There have been very significant political challenges imposed on this region. And I think that the Europe and the USA they have made a lot of promises, but they have done little in terms of economic investment in the Balkans,” he notes.
“This is something we need to heal. It is something I hope to be able to work on together with the largest economy of this region in Greece. Because I believe that the Balkans must continue to move in its direction Join and his NATO“, he emphasized.
