SVT has confirmed that they will broadcast Eurovision Young Musicians 2022 on July 29.
SVT is the third competing broadcaster that has confirmed that they will broadcast Eurovision Young Musicians 2022 with a delay. WDR and ORF will both broadcast the competition on July 24, the day after the competition takes place.
18-year-old Lukas Flink will represent Sweden at Eurovision Young Musicians 2022. The trombonist from Malmö won the Polstjärneprise, which has been used by SVT for a number of years to select the Swedish representative for the competition.
Sweden has competed in Eurovision Young Musicians a total of thirteen times since 1986 and has advanced to the finals on five occasions. The nation’s best result came in 2006 when Andreas Brantelid won in Vienna.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2022
Radio France will host the competition in Montpellier as part of the Festival de musique Radio France Occitanie Montpellier and collaborates with France Télévisions to produce the competition. Eurovision Young Musicians 2022 will be held on July 23. Judith Chaine is hosting the competition.
The competing countries are:
- Austria – Alexander Svetnitsky-Ehrenreich – Clarinet
- Belgium – Thai Defoort – Cello
- Czech Republic – Daniel Matejča – Violin
- France – Maxime Grizard – Violin
- Germany – Philipp Schupelius – Cello
- Norway – Alma Serafin Kraggerud – Violin
- Poland – Milena Pioruńska – Violin
- Sweden – Lukas Flink – Trombone
Among the competing countries, we see a return for both Austria and the host country France, where the latter has not participated in the competition since 2000.
Initially, it turned out that a total of eight countries participated. But since then, Croatia has decided not to withdraw from the competition, which has raised the number of participants to 9.
