Which tunnel will “save” Athens from traffic
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport revealed that it is already on track for implementation.

Mr. Karamanlis emphasized that the undergrounding her tunnel her Heliopolis is one of the absolutely necessary projectsin order not to become Athens inaccessible city in the future. -Upgrading its traffic capacity Perimetriki Hymettos from its hub Catechist to the tunnel entrance.
-And the upgrade of its traffic capacity Vouliagmenis Avenueof an avenue that is already saturated.
The preparation of studies for this project will be carried out mainly with a very fast process, which will be included in Convention – Framework for the provision of services Technical Advisor of the administration, explained Mr. Karamanlis.

As regards to Suburban of Western AtticaMr. Karamanlis emphasized that its Government New Republic enlisted him in the Recovery Fund and noted that the goal is to auction the project – through it OSE– within the summer.

As far as pipelines are concerned, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport he reminded that the previous Government had done nothing and had not found funding, while the current Government is democratic and has secured funding and a specific schedule.
He confirmed that the applicable Environmental Impact Study it doesn’t include the new white goods pipelines, adding that “that’s why we went to ELPE and we asked that the studies be done by them, in order to gain time”. He also noted that OSE advance the solution of the environmental licensing of the project by ELPE S.A.
Regarding the opposition’s request for a double line, Mr. Karamanlis pointed out that: “H technology has progressed. The calculation of the capacity of the single line with electrified wires Desiro, i.e. the wires that in the title Suburban, defines routes with 72 trains per day, which is considered extremely sufficient.”
He also explained that: “The reason there is no double line is because we will be stuck with the many expropriations. Which means the project will be stuck or not done. And secondly, technology enables us with a single line to have adequate routes».
Mr. Karamanlis he also commented that: “We are in 2022, we are not in 1975. THE railroad has changed. We will have 72 trains the day from scratch today. If we go with the solution of making a double railway line, I guarantee you that the project would never be done”.
THE Minister of Infrastructure and Transport also pointed out that the Recovery Fund has very tight margins, which means that this project will have to be completed by 2026, otherwise the whole program is at risk.
The train returns to Western Attica after 15 years
Mr. Karamanlis he also mentioned that the project design foresees the possibility of future doubling in the department Liosia-Elefsinasince there it has been established that it exists sufficient space.
