un démarrage décevant pour les soldes d’été

Mixed results for the first days of the summer sales. In Bordeaux, pedestrian traffic has dropped by 30 to 50% in the city center: rue Porte Dijeaux and the Triangle d’or district are particularly affected
The start of the summer sales was disappointing for Bordeaux merchants, both in terms of attendance and turnover, reveals the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The institution interviewed a hundred merchants in the city center of Bordeaux at the end of June. 52% of them declare that the frequentation of their shop was lower or even much lower than last year during the first week of the sales. With decreases ranging from -30% to -50% in pedestrian traffic. “It is the whole of the city center which seems to be impacted by this drop in attendance, but more particularly rue Porte Dijeaux and the Golden Triangle district”, specifies the CCI Bordeaux Gironde.
At the level of private sales, organized in 79% of shops, only 52% of the traders concerned are satisfied (they were 65% in 2021). This represents a drop of 17 points compared to 2019. Purchasing behavior has changed since the health crisis, particularly with the boom in online sales, private sales and promotional actions. What to do to lose all interest in the sales?
