these residents say “no to the eastern junction” which aims to create an interchange at the gates of the city
By 2028, a new interchange should be built to the east of Toulouse. But the residents and inhabitants of the district are formally opposed to it. This Sunday, July 3, they organized a demonstration on the spot.
The collective is only two months old, but it managed to bring together around fifty people, this Sunday, July 3, to demonstrate against the east interchange project, at the gates of Toulouse.
“It’s a very old project that the metropolis wants to bring up to date. It was mentioned for the first time in 1982, but it came back to the fore in 2005, in, 2007 and 2016” explains Marc Le Calloch of collective “No at the east junction”.
In this collective, which notably brings together residents of the Bonhoure, Guilheméry, Château de l’Hers, Limayrac and Côte-Pavée districts, everyone fears that the creation of this interchange will affect the quality of life of an entire district.
“Traffic will be much higher during peak hours, we will have to deal with pollution, whether atmospheric, noise or visual, explains Marc Le Calloch. In addition, 20 hectares will be integrated into agricultural and natural areas with high ecological stakes”.
While the project has been in consultation for a short time and until September 30, the collective intends to raise public awareness. Marc Le Calloch continues: “Very few people know about this project and we want to gather as many people as possible to ask for its abandonment”.
On site, the members of the collectives were able to discuss their quality in the neighborhood as well as the green spaces, which would be threatened by the interchange. On the Web, A petition has been posted online. It counts more than 1000 signatures.
