Switzerland is becoming a popular health destination for golf visitors

Sugar Mizzy July 4, 2022

According to an official at the Hôpital de La Tour, Switzerland, and Geneva in particular, is becoming an increasingly popular healthcare destination for golf visitors, not only because of the quality medical services that the hospitals offer, but also for the healthy attractions and flight connections.
Renowned for its scenic views of Lake Geneva and Mont-Blanc, Geneva offers visitors a unique and relaxing experience and hospitality, as well as a range of shopping opportunities.
“Switzerland has been known for decades for the quality of care and personalized services. In fact, in the World Index of Healthcare Innovation 2021, Swiss healthcare ranks first with a score of 65.15, ahead of the Netherlands and Germany. Its medical facilities provide quality care and have a first class infrastructure that attracts patients from different parts of the world,” said Mehdi Bensouda, CFO and Head of International Development at Hôpital de La Tour golf times during his last visit to Doha.
He said the medical institution has developed a unique Value Based Healthcare Framework (VBHC) and has recently been recognized as the most progressive private hospital in Europe in this area, which will transform the healthcare sector in the years to come.
In addition to the advanced technology used in the hospital and the multidisciplinary approach it brings, Bensouda noted that the Hôpital de La Tour “also adopts a patient-centric healthcare model so that everyone feels at home with us”.
“We understand the cultural differences between international patients and try our best to accommodate them throughout their healing journey. Accordingly, we have recently started to offer Arabic patients special services and amenities so that they can enjoy the highest quality care.
“This includes employing nurses and care coordinators who speak Arabic, offering translation services, upscale private suites, limousine service, concierge services, hotel reservations and more,” he said, adding that the hospital is a pioneer in VBHC in Switzerland and be in Europe. ” he added.
Bensouda said he recently had the opportunity to visit various leading healthcare providers in the Gulf States and was impressed with the quality of the infrastructure and services they offer.
“Our goal is to share best practices in these areas with leading healthcare providers in the Gulf and learn from these institutions as well, while keeping in mind our vision to continuously bring the best healthcare to patients around the world,” he said .
Bensouda noted that the Hôpital de La Tour has developed a unique expertise in the areas of exercise therapy (sports medicine, orthopedics and physiotherapy), cardiac, cancer treatments and metabolism (digestion and obesity program).
“At Hôpital de La Tour, we are strongly committed to educating future generations of health professionals in all key disciplines and we can contribute to the vision Qatar is working towards,” he said.
He added that they currently have 11 accredited postgraduate continuing education programs and he encouraged medical students in Qatar who wish to deepen their knowledge of Hôpital de La Tour’s innovative training programs
The specialist areas include general internal medicine, emergency medicine, general practice, cardiology, pneumology, paediatrics, neonatology, orthopaedics, sports medicine and pain therapy. New training programs are also constantly being introduced, making La Tour the leading private teaching hospital in French-speaking Switzerland.
“We are open to any potential partnership (with countries like Qatar) as long as it brings value to both institutions. We discussed collaboration opportunities around training and education and research in areas where we have developed centers of excellence, such as in hip, shoulder and knee or TAVI, rhythmology and cardiac surgery, among others,” said Bensouda.
