Sweden, Finland must adhere to memorandum to join NATO
(MENAFN) Sweden and Finland must stick to a recently written memo with Türkiye to join NATO, in accordance with the Turkish Foreign Minister on Monday.
“If they do not correct themselves, we will not accept them in NATO,” Mevlut Cavusoglu announced in a live meeting with the Turkish newscaster NTV.
He emphasized the importance of the contract by saying: “For the first time, the YPG / PYD was added to a NATO document.”
Cavusoglu was asked how necessary the memo is, he replied: “First of all, they are engaged in full cooperation with Türkiye in the fight against the PKK and its extensions.
“There is also a commitment to lift the embargo and restrictions on the defense industry and to increase cooperation.”
He added the two Nordic countries’ commitment to fighting violence and updating their defense industry law.
“If these countries do not keep their word, we will take our steps accordingly,” he continued.
