Snatch robbery in Toulouse: beware of improvised dances in the city center
Two minors were arrested on July 3 by police in downtown Toulouse as they used an unusual ploy to empty the pockets of revelers. While one danced with their prey, the other emerged from the darkness to snatch his jewelry.
The technique is on point. It’s very easy to be fooled if you’re in a perky mood, ready to party and share… On the night of Saturday July 2 or Sunday July 3, a 20-year-old young man paid the price in Place Saint -Pierre in the city center of Toulouse. Two unaccompanied minors aged 16 and 17 respectively had noticed that this boy was wearing a beautiful gold chain. They then put the plan into action to steal it, according to a very precise procedure.
With a smile, one of the two urged their target to dance with him. The young man bowed to it with good grace, not seeing the dirty trick come at all. After a few figures of paso-doble, crouching in the shadows, the other miner came up behind him and snatched his necklace. The pickpocketing duo immediately took to their heels, thinking they would get away with it.
It was without counting on a witness who had witnessed this snatch theft live. He was able to provide a detailed description of the two young thieves to the agents of the BAC (anti-crime brigade) Right Bank.
