On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the French police located a stolen Toyota RAV 4 on Badenstedter Strasse and informed the Hanover police. On site, the emergency services found several parked and partially locked overseas containers. With a search warrant, they searched six containers and a truck and confiscated three cars. According to the latest findings of the Hanover criminal police, the joint center for German-French police and customs cooperation in Kehl informed the Hanover police on Wednesday afternoon that a Toyota RAV 4 stolen in France had been located on Badenstedter Strasse in Hanover.
An immediately initiated search by the Hanover police initially confirmed negatively. In the course of the search, however, the emergency services found a space with nine overseas containers. No car was found in three open containers. Six locked overseas shipping containers were sealed and searched with a search warrant Thursday morning.
Three cars recently stolen in France were found in an overseas container. In addition to the located Toyota RAV 4, the Hanover criminal police confiscated an identical model and a Citroen C5 Aircross. The police estimate the total value at around 100,000 euros.
The investigations against the 49-year-old person who was authorized to access the container from Hanover and against possible other parties involved in the crime because of gang stolen vehicles are in full swing.
Witnesses who made suspicious observations around the parking space on Badenstedter Straße near the railway bridge in May to June 2022 before the cars were found are asked to contact the Hanover Criminal Investigation Service on 0511 109-5555. /nzj, desch
