New angle on the Real Madrid star’s iconic free kick against Sweden
The 2018 World Cup was truly a tournament to forget for Germany.
Die Mannschaft arrived in Russia as the holder of the sport’s most prestigious trophy, having blown away every other country four years earlier – in particular the host nation Brazil.
Germany’s squad for the 2018 edition of World Cup was full of world-class players as well, but Joachim Low’s side was simply not up to the task of defending his crown.
The European giant crashed out of the group stage tournament after accumulating just three points from its three matches.
Germany’s first outing saw them lose 1-0 to Mexico, while the last of the three was a 2-0 humble in the hands of Heung-min Son’s South Korean side.
The only positive for the team was their second match, where they beat Sweden 2-1 with 10 men.
Jerome Boateng received his second yellow card shortly after Marco Reus equalized for Germany and then saw the victory incredibly difficult for Low’s men.
But in downtime, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos stepped up and made a pretty incredible free kick from a very narrow angle.
It was a moment of magic from a wonderful technician and guess what? The goal still arouses football fans four years later.
A new camera angle for the iconic strike has appeared on social media and to say that it has attracted attention would be something of an understatement.
At the time of writing, the material has been liked by over 182,000 accounts and has been retweeted over 19,000 times.

If ever a football-themed video deserves to be hung in the Louvre, it is. Kroos could not have hit the ball sweeter and delivering these high quality goods under such extra pressure is remarkable.
The only football fan who still will not be able to enjoy the goal during all these years later is the person who barely missed out on winning £ 5,250 from a bet at the time.
All they needed was for Kroos to score outside the box to complete the 5-pound accumulator, but sadly for them, the German made contact with the ball a few centimeters inside the area.
When you need Toni Kroos to score outside the box for £ 5250 out of a five !! 🤮🔫 @SkyBet pic.twitter.com/CPkAyzuGNo
