More traffic accidents than last June
The General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece publishes overall data regarding road safety and traffic policing issues that occurred, during the month of June of the year 2022, in the territorial jurisdiction of the Police Directorates of Achaia, Ilia, Aetolia and Akarnania.
The publication of the monthly data is accompanied by statistical data of the corresponding last month.
A. Traffic accidents
In the territorial jurisdiction of the General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece, there were 39 traffic accidents compared to 35 in June 2021.
In particular, the following were noted:
• 3 fatal accidents against 2 in June 2021.
• 2 traffic accidents with serious injury as many as in June
year 2021.
• 34 traffic accidents with minor injuries to people compared to 31 in June
of the year 2021.
From the traffic accidents that happened in our Region
a total of 47 patients were recorded compared to 52 in June 2021:
In particular, the following were recorded:
• 3 dead compared to 2 in June 2021.
• 2 seriously injured as in June 2021.
• 42 slightly injured compared to 48 in June 2021.
The main causes of traffic accidents – accidents as they occurred
from the police traffic investigation, it was:
• Excessive speed
• Priority violation
• Drunk driving
• Causes referred to drivers
B. Traffic policing actions
The Traffic Services of the General Regional Police Directorate
of Western Greece are in constant readiness, implementing
specific design, which provides for increased road safety measures
and traffic policing for the safe movement of vehicles and
of citizens, as well as for the prevention and prevention of accidents in
its entire road network.
For example, in the month of June 2022, they were formed by
Traffic Services 305 breathalyzer crews, 4,384 actions were taken
drunkenness investigation checks and 188 violations were found.
In addition, 3,484 were also confirmed during the same period of time
dangerous violations.
In particular, they confirmed:
• 1,598 for speeding
• 488 for not wearing a helmet while driving
• 540 for not wearing a seat belt while driving
• 68 for movement in the opposite current
• 37 for mobile phone use while driving
• 48 for priority violation
• 127 for a red light violation
• 65 for illegal overtaking
• 48 for not using child seats
• 213 for K.T.E.O.
• 151 for driving with worn tires
• 101 on dangerous driving maneuvers
C. Road Safety Tips
The Greek Police are particularly aware of security issues
driving and road safety, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of
traffic accidents reminds all drivers and users

• In case I drive or am a passenger on a motorcycle I always wear
helmet.
• I don’t do illegal overtaking.
• I do not violate the red marker.
• I stop at STOP and give priority.
• I don’t talk on my cell phone while driving.
• I give priority to pedestrians.
• I respect the signals and instructions of the traffic controllers.
