Janševa’s Nova24TV is a “media monster” that incites violence
STAJuly 4, 2022 – Nova24TV vividly shows that the Democratic Party’s (SDS) idea of what the media should be is similar to those held by Communist Party workers in the darkest communist times, writes the Reporter magazine. in Monday’s editorial in response to a Nova24TV viewer who encouraged armed struggle against the new government in a call-in show last week.
“This is no longer just hate speech,” Nova24TV went a step further by calling for a showdown with weapons, which can no longer be dismissed as an insignificant incident.
Now it is the turn of institutions from the police and prosecutors to the Agency for Communications Networks and Services to act.
A normal media would have already taken action and fired the director and host of the TV station, Boris Tomašič, who did not interrupt the viewer, but supported his appeal.
Advertisers would also react immediately and stop funding the “Janšev Factory of Lies and Propaganda”, which is also financed by Viktor Orban’s tycoons.
“The genie is out of the bottle a long time ago… They are deliberately spreading hatred, inciting to arouse the lowest emotions in people,” he writes in an editorial entitled Media Monster.
The reporter says that “this is not journalism”, it is “the most disgusting and primitive political propaganda” and Janšev’s “darkest reflection in the mirror”.
It is a political propaganda project, which came to him upon his release from prison and which he presented to a wider circle of invitees at the SDS headquarters in January 2015.
In the spring of 2016, the Reporter welcomed the arrival of the new television because it expected that it would “pluralize the stuffy media space permeated with left-wing ideology.”
While Nova24TV was labeled as the Slovenian version of the American conservative Fox News, “Slovenia instead got a media cesspool that is fortunately poorly watched…”
The reporter says that Tomašič “deliberately incited political opponents of the SDS, probably not for the first time”.
Those who answered were increasingly angry, and the leader only inflamed them with his comments, and he answered the caller who called for armed conflict with the words: “They came to power with blood, but they will leave apparently only by force.”
