“In Moldova, laws in the field of interethnic relations are almost perfect”
The law on the functioning of languages, which was previously declared obsolete by the Constitutional Court, has been justified, and Moldova still needs it, but it is important to ensure its effective application.
Such an opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Board of the Assembly of the Peoples of Moldova, the former Director General of the Bureau of Interethnic Relations, Olga Goncearova, during the show “Mechanism of Action with Elena Levitskaia-Pahomova” on NTV-Moldova, transmits Noi.md.
“The only thing is that I have a lot of questions not about the text of the law itself, but about its subsequent application, the implementation of this legislative framework,” she said.
Olga Goncearova stressed that the legislative framework of the Republic of Moldova in the field of interethnic relations is almost perfect, and many Moldovan laws in this area have been borrowed, for example, the Baltic countries.
“It was very interesting for them. Many fragments of our legislative framework were received” brilliantly “and everything was adopted in these countries. And it is wonderful, but we do not face problems with the implementation of these laws in the education system. In the system of punishment, for example, the Bureau of Interethnic Relations has never been empowered to impose sanctions and punish those who care about violations, we have always had to go to the police, everything goes through the court and it was a problem. And today, all these commissions that have been created, the non-discriminatory councils, do not fulfill all the absolute functions. They always say “But you turn to us.” It sets a precedent that can continue to happen to other people, and the problems with the implementation of the legislative framework have always been very acute and, frankly, have always exhausted by the political will of those in government. Implementing the legislative framework is the most important thing, “she said.
