Fiala meets Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic in Prague on Thursday

Prague – Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) meets with his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković in Prague on Thursday. They will be about energy security, the Russian invasion of Ukraine or European issues and the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union. This was stated by the government office in today’s press release.
Fiala about Plenkovič’s visit in July and already a few weeks ago after negotiations on European foreign policy. In the discussion, politicians then touched on the issue of expanding the Schengen area, former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) talked about the need to expand it to Bulgaria, Romania or Croatia. Fiala later told journalists that he is currently realistically looking at joining Croatia and that he will talk about it with Plenkovic.
Jan Lipavský (Pirates) also assured the Foreign Ministry of the Czech support for Croatia’s entry into Schengen during the June meeting in Prague, and the head of Croatian diplomacy, Gordan Grlič-Radman.
Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovič last visited Prague in November 2019, when he held talks with Babis.
