De Antoni at the turning point of the Junior flag
The San Marino Rally, third act of the Absolute Italian Junior Rally Championship, will see the driver from Camposampiero, bearer of Collecchio Corse, in the second on the dirt road.
Felino (PR), 04 July 2022 – Almost two months have separated the young promises of the Italian rally from the fight that sees them contend for the title in the Italian Junior Rally Championship and next weekend, in the shadow of Monte Titano, the challenge will reignite.
The San Marino Rally is coming, one of the homegrown classics that has come to celebrate an important birthday that will translate into a fiftieth edition with a high adrenaline rate.
The second round of the CIAR Junior on gravel, also valid for the Italian Rally Terrain Championship, will find Edoardo De Antoni, a young hope in the Collecchio Corse home, at the start.
The pilot from Camposampiero, after making his debut on the dirt road on the occasion of an Adriatic closed with a good fourth place among the members of the series, will be looking for new confirmations.
“It will be a debut in San Marino for us” – says De Antoni – “but we have tried to prepare ourselves as best we can because it will be the last race we will face on clay in CIAR Junior. After having tasted the dirt road to the Adriatic we want to introduce ourselves here to push. The first race helped us to understand something, avoiding making mistakes, and we must say that it also went well. This is our main program and we must do our utmost. “
Scrolling through the provisional ranking of the tricolor reserved for young talents of the boot, the bearer of the Felino team in fourth place, late nineteen lengths from the leader Casella but with the two steps of the podium respectively nine and six points away, waiting to return to the successive asphalts of Rome, of the 1000 Miglia and of the Due Valli.
To keep an eye on the situation in the context of a CIRT that sees the son of Padua in sixth place among the Under 25 and in the category cup, only eleven lengths of gap from the top which, in the event of a positive result, San Marino could also entice him.
“To be our first year on races never raced” – underlines De Antoni – “I would say that we are doing very well. With San Marino we will reach the exact half of the championship so we want to try to make the most of this opportunity, both to learn even more land but also to try to recover points in the championship. After San Marino we will move on to asphalt and we have seen that, on this background, we are more competitive because we have more experience. We can’t wait to start this new and exciting challenge.
Nine special stages, all to be played on just Saturday 9 July, which will see De Antoni as protagonist, starting from a morning divided into two laps on “Terra di San Marino” (5.00 km), interspersed with “Macerata Feltria ”(7.47 km) and from“ Belforte all’Isauro ”(12.01 km).
The afternoon will lead the driver of the Renault Clio Rally 5, shared with Martina Musiari at the notes, towards the double repetition of the “Macerata Feltria” and the “Belforte all’Isauro”.
The role of judge, ready to decree winners and losers of this fifty-year anniversary, will be up to the final “Land of San Marino”, to complete the almost seventy-four timed kilometers.
