3 smart ways to get to know Lithuania
The upcoming day off on the occasion of the coronation celebration of King Mindaugas of Lithuania prompted many compatriots to think about what interesting things to do in Lithuania.
What apps will allow you to get to know the yet undiscovered corners of your native country is presented by Samsung.
1. DayTrip – Find out what’s in front of you
“Daytrip” is an interactive Lithuanian tourism program intended for use as an electronic travel guide. By the way, you can find the same functions on the website “daytrip.lt“.
“In the app, the date, city or district, type of place: museum, nature, monument or architecture, price – paid or free, travel method.
You will then be offered different locations or routes, how long it would take you to reach them, as rated by other users.
In the app, travelers can create a personal one and save what they liked the most,” says Samsung product expert Aurelija Krivickaitė.
Please note that information in the app can be provided in both Lithuanian and English.
What’s more, in the app you will find descriptions of places, photos of the famous Lithuanian photographer Romuald Požerskis and an audio guide, which you will expand your knowledge after listening to.
For those who have a hard time deciding where to go, the “Surprise Me” function, which suggests an unexpected route, will come in handy.

2. “Lietuvos kurortoų” – to evaluate augmented reality from the series
“Lietuvos kurortai” ‒ a mobile app designed to get to know the resorts: Neringa Municipality, Druskininkus, Birštonas and Palanga.
Some functions are also available on the website “lietuvoskurortai.lt“, but if you want to listen to an audio guide or try augmented reality, you can only do it in the app.
“In the app you will find routes, attractions and augmented reality reviews. Click on the 3 horizontal lines symbol in the top left corner and you will see the QR scanner and the language below.
By the way, this program is perfectly suited for tourists, as it offers as many as 5 language options: Lithuanian, English, Russian, German and Latvian,” says Aurelija Krivickaitė.
The expert says that the routes are presented in great detail: it is indicated whether it will be free, how long it will take on foot, how it is rated by other travelers.
Detailed descriptions and other details are provided, for example, what kind of surface you will be traveling on: asphalt, gravel or forest road. This is how you decide how active you want to spend your time.
You can conveniently record your activity in the Samsung Health app on your smartphone or Galaxy Watch.
After a whole day, you can view your activity statistics: how many steps you took, how many calories you burned, how much distance you walked, etc.

3. “Informal Vilnius” – study the capital
“Invisible Vilnius” is a free program for getting to know Vilnius in an alternative way. The functions of this program are also available on the website “neakivijainisvilnius.lt“.
“After opening the app, you can choose from various types of routes: study of Vilnius districts, arts, architecture, natural sciences, children’s education, etc.
So, after choosing what you are interested in, click on “Start route” and then you will see it on the screen. You will be able to learn more about the route or object in the description or after listening to the audio guide,” says A. Krivickaitė.
The app shows the routes in great detail – showing distance, terrain, steps, duration, pet-friendly and additional information.
