Women’s sport, in Toulouse, has had an exceptional last few months. On the grass, indoors, on clay: the Toulousaines superbly defended the colors of the Pink City, between monumental exploits and winning titles.

Basketball players lead the way

It all started with a rise, like that of Toulouse Football Club in Ligue 1. These are the players of Toulouse Métropole Basket, who won the right to find the elite of French women’s basketball. They formalized this return on Saturday May 21, 2022, by beating Iséroises de La Tronche Meylan 61-57, in the final of the Women’s League 2, after a 64-51 victory in the first leg. Protected by Xavier Noguera had been relegated to the second division in 2016, before chaining three seasons at the end containing they had come very close to the rise. This year, they have not missed the boat, and complete a season which will have seen them chain 13 consecutive wins.

A feat at Roland-Garros

A few days later, when snowshoes stormed the Porte d’Auteuil with the unmissable Roland-Garros event, it was Leolia Jeanjean who talked about her. Born in Montpellier, the 26-year-old player is licensed at Stade Toulousain. And when she was 227th in the world, she paid the scalp of Karolina Pliskova, who occupied the 8th position in the WTA rankings, during the second round. A clear and flawless success, acquired two sets to zero: 6-2, 6-2! Unfortunately, she was eliminated in the next round, against Romanian Irina Begu (6-1, 6-4). But this won’t take away the uppercase feat realized against the Czech, a few days earlier!

3 in 1 for Stade Toulousain

The players of Stade Toulousain did not do half measures and placed, on Saturday June 4, 2022, a historic marker for the club. Indeed, they were not satisfied with a title of champion of France, or even two. In a single day, they stimulated three ! The cadets first defeated SU Agen 27-15, before being imitated by the group Federal 1 femaleMontpellier scorer, 24 to 12. Finally, after an unbreathable match, the final ofWomen’s Elite 1 switched to Toulouse in the last moments, victorious over Blagnac, 16-10. A monumental triplet!

Double climb at TFC

After seeing Philippe Montanier’s troops return to Ligue 1, the women of Toulouse FC have worked to keep up. Both teams can move up to the next level. The reserve, engaged in Regional 2, a finished champion, and therefore won the right to evolve to the next level… on one condition: that the first team, coached by Antoine Gerard in Regional 1, also validates its rise. The regular season was breathtaking (18 wins in 18 games, 101 goals scored, 5 conceded). To end in style, captain Clémentine Dias Veloso and her teammates ensured their return to D2, beating Monaco in the play-off (2-2, 1-0). And formalized, thus, a fabulous double climb!

A Toulouse woman can become table football world champion for the 3rd time

To crown an already stratospheric year a little more, the winners of the Toulousaines could be further enriched at the beginning of the summer. Since Tuesday June 28, 2022, Clémentine Thomar, 27 years old and born in Toulouse, has been participating in the table football world championships in Nantes. Titled in 2015 and 2017, the player of the Toulouse Football de Table club sets out to conquer a third throne, in Nantes, in a competition which will end on July 3. With a new title at the key?
