The Grande Boucle will return to France on Tuesday July 5, with a fourth stage between Dunkirk and Calais. Before the peloton arrives, it’s time for final preparations.
The Tour de France arrives in Calais (Pas-de-Calais), for a day of celebration. The city is adorned with its most beautiful colors. From brand new roads to impeccable green spaces, nothing is left to chance. “We welcome 300 journalists from all over the world, and of course the reception of the caravan, the storage of the caravan, the Tour staff. It’s 1,200 people who will arrive in Calais, and who will settle for almost 48 hours”comments Stéphane Lecarrié, event manager for the city of Calais.
The departure city of Dunkirk (North) has also been preparing for months. “All the logistical installation remains to be done, the start, the Tour de France village, the jump-off, the activities that we are going to put in place with the various partners”, lists Anne Cagna, director of sports for the city of Dunkirk. Traders, too, are on the alert. Christophe Tessier, pastry chef, even created a gourmet dessert especially for the occasion, in the colors of the Tour.
