Singer Pavel Vítek: I think my birthday celebration will go awry
Forty-five years have passed this year since the death of the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, and there are still many people who love him and secretly hope that he is still living somewhere in seclusion. With his singing and acting, he influenced many singers around the world, including Pavel Vítek (59), who therefore could not miss the premiere of the biographical drama Elvis. How does he remember the singer?

How much of an influence does Elvis Presley have on your career?
He was my big role model. I have liked his songs since I was a child, and even included several of them in my repertoire. Only then did I understand why he had such success with them. They are beautiful, melodic, fresh… And even now, when we are recording the second album with 4 Tenors, we have a surprise song from Elvis. But I won’t reveal which one. (laughter)
Do you also know his personal life?
Of course. I know his turbulent fate and I quite understand it, behind everything that happened to him is a huge career, which I think was not easy to resist. I’ve always admired him for the fact that even though life dealt him so many different blows, he still didn’t lose his love for music. She lasted him until the very end. I still remember how one afternoon I was doing my homework and the news came on the radio that Elvis was dead. I messed it up terribly back then. It is one of my worst experiences.
Jan Cina: Marriage for all? Some fear that the world might collapse
In September, you’re going to have a lot of fun, will you also heat it up on stage like Elvis?
Yes, I am going to celebrate my double thirtieth on September 30th in Lucerne, where I will have a big concert with a lot of guests.
Will you also have a private celebration with your partner?
Certainly. But the Lantern will be so important. All friends will be there, including Helena Vondráčková, Monika Absolonová, Jitka Zelenková, Adély Gondíková, Dan Hůlka and others. I think it’s going to turn into one big party. (laughter)
Is there anything you want with those logs?
I wish that I could continue to devote myself in good health to the great love of my life, which is music. If I have it and the audience likes it, I’ll be happy.
