Prague will celebrate the Czech presidency of the Council of the EU with a jazz festival | Culture | News | Prague Gossip
On Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12, the Bohemia Jazzfest will be held, which, among other things, will celebrate the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU. Prague councilors decided on it this week. The Old Town Square, where the concerts will take place, will be lent to the city for free by the organizers. Entry for visitors will also be free.
This year the festival will be held for the seventeenth time. It is based on open-air concerts in city centers or historic squares, after the Prague performances it will move to Pilsen and other cities. Prague will provide the premises of the festival square for free.
Jazz will be brought by groups from Spain and Italy
The program will start on Monday with the performance of singer and violinist Ivy Bittová and pianist Antonín Fajt. Among foreign groups, the Polish-Ukrainian group Dagadana, the Spanish Caminero Trio or the quartet of the Italian pianist Lorenzo De Finti will appear on stage.

“Bohemia JazzFest is a completely unique musical experience, in the world of jazz it makes Prague the capital of jazz in Europe, and that’s why I’m glad that we agreed on the possibility of holding the festival this year precisely on the Old Town Square, which is a symbol associated with by the Czech Presidency. The Old Town Square will thus be the cultural voice of the whole of Europe for these two days,” stated the Prague councilor for property in a press release Jan Chabr (TOP 09).
