Portugal closes in the Mediterranean Games
The Portuguese participation in the 3×3 competition of the Mediterranean Gameswhich take place in Oran, an Algerian city. The U23 Women’s National Team reached fifth place, while the team qualified in sixth place.
Women’s training began, this Sunday, by overcoming the Slovenia per 11-8with Maria Marinho, Raquel Laneiro and Mariana Silva to convert 3 points, while Alice Martins scored 1 point. Then, in the final duel, Portugal beat Tunisia per 13-6with a partial of 5-0 proving to be decisive for our colors. Raquel Laneiro and Maria Marinho scored 4 points, being seconded by Mariana Silva (3 points) and Alice Martins (2 points).
The group won the first game, against the men Greeceper 19-17. A high level final stretch, proposed in 5 consecutive points, was worth a Portuguese triumph, in a meeting in which Rui Palhares (9pts) if shown inspired, followed by laminate Banorá (4 points), André Gomes (3 points) and Jorge Embaló (3 points). In the second match, the host Algeria won our selection by 21-17in a game in which Portugal won 7-2. André Gomes (6pts) was the most productive player in the corner team, without forgetting Rui Palhares (5 points), laminate Banorá (4pts) and Jorge Embaló (2 points).
