OSKA on a private session tour of Austria
By Gersin Livia Paya
“I haven’t done that for so long, it’s so beautiful, I like it so much!” says OSKA right after the first concert of the private sessions tour across Austria. It is her pleasure to play in an intimate circle, because she last did it on the street during her studies in Vienna. “I can look everyone in the eye while playing,” OSKA continues happily. And the eyes of the fans in Eisenstadt, Tyrol and Salzburg show tears of joy. Every stop speaks of great feelings, goosebumps and a near beautiful experience.
First stop in Eisenstadt at Daniel’s
We meet in a garden. Not only probably, but definitely under a tree – with Daniel in Eisenstadt. Big things are happening in the smallest provincial capital of Austria: The FM4 Private Session with OSKA! And the guests? In addition to many colleagues and friends of host Daniel, there is also 11-week-old Ylvie – a good start to life when the first concert you hear is carried by OSKA’s enchanting voice.
Host Daniel is a police officer and even grabbed a spray can for OSKA for the first time and sprayed the lines “If I could be everything I wanna be, I just wanna be, I wanna be okay” on a banner. Daniel also stored FM4 on all the radios in the company cars, and after the concert it was clear that there were now a few more Eisenstadt cops who were happy when OSKA’s music was on the radio.
Second stop at the Tyrolean farm with Harald and Maria
At the nature reserve in Going am Wilden Kaiser, OSKA “hops” a chicken (named Kiki) for the first time, strokes a black-nosed sheep (named Fanny) and promptly says: “Today is my best day of the year.” That’s exactly what the private ones do Sessions off: you get to places, meet good-humored people and cuddly animals. Especially with Harald and Maria, everything is just right: they host OSKA on a farm with three homemade cakes, a Tyrolean postcard panorama and retired chickens, black noses, various shells that love to be petted, a frog, a snake, quail and a colorful one Flower meadow on which the insects “make the beautiful music”, says Maria.
With the Wilder Kaiser enthroned in the back, OSKA plays a private session that leaves no dry eye. In a sea of tears she spontaneously unpacks a children’s song about a worm and as cheesy as it sounds, even the little ones forget about Furby, ice cream and toys when OSKA sings about a scared worm. After that, only the conversion of the nearby, swampy Schwarzsee helps to put all emotions to bed.
Third stop at the outdoor pool directly under the mountain at Sarah’s
A few mountains later we wind our way under the blazing sun to the Steinberg in Leogang. It is Sarah’s restaurant, which is only separated from the mighty Steinberg by an outdoor pool. And between ice cream, wet swimming trunks and crispy fries from the pool, it is OSKA’s voice that makes Sunday perfect for many visitors.
“I love fries – especially rosemary fries,” OSKA enthuses about the location and the rosemary at her feet. Not only the crew around Sarah, but also many bathers snuggled up in the beach loungers in the fries waiting area in front of OSKA and dreamily listened to the concert on the terrace. Sarah had never won anything, and this Sunday two wishes came true: OSKA is playing on her terrace, and then right at the beginning Sarah’s favorite song “Starstruck”. A very summery end to a tour that could only be matched by a vacation in Italy in secluded bays.
We wish OSKA a good time and would share our Twinnie with her again at any time – and even our rosemary fries!
