Jessica Teusl of Austria wins a bracelet at the WSOP 2022

Sugar Mizzy July 3, 2022

Dhe fourth day of Women’s No-Limit Hold’em Championship [Seite auf Englisch] at the World Series of Poker 2022 (WSOP) ended today. 1,074 players will compete at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas for a $955,860 prize pool and gold bracelet. In the end, Jessica Teusl won the bracelet and $166,975 in prize money.

Three DACH players make it to the final table: Natalie Hof and Felisa Westermann from Germany and Jessica Teusl from Austria. The very first hand of the day brought Teusl a significant increase in her stack.

Not so lucky was Natalie Hof, who moved all in with Ac-Kc and received a call from Julie Le (USA) with 6s-6d. However, the flip did not bring Hof a hit on the board, which meant that she was eliminated in 8th place.

After the Americans Sandy Tran, Lynh Nguyen and Meikat Siu finished the tournament in 7th, 6th and 5th place, the German Felisa Westermann also finished in 4th place.

Westermann, who had lost a significant amount of stack in the defunct hands, pushed her remaining chips into the middle of the table with Ah-5s and received a call from Teusl with Ad-Js. The board didn’t result in a hit for either player, so the Austrian with the better hand won the pot.

Julie Le then called with Ks-Qh and Teusl with a pair of nines from US player Christina Gollins’ all-in. The board didn’t result in a hit for the Americans, allowing the Austrian to add another stack to her stack.

This year’s WSOP is going well for the Austrian. Two weeks ago, she took the seat in the No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack event and received a payout of $120,455. With the victory, Teusl were able to more than quadruple their tournament earnings, which now amount to almost USD 500,000.

Teusl is at the WSOP with her boyfriend Stefan Lehner from Austria. Lehner was also able to record a great success for the Austrian players. He was victorious in Event #16: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em, winning Austria’s first bracelet and $558,616 in prize money.

Exciting heads-up duel

Teusl had a four-to-one chip lead, which gave her a significant advantage heads-up against US player Julie Le. However, Le did manage to win a few smaller pots and briefly even took the chip lead.

But then Jh-10c gave the Austrian a big double-up when she moved all in on the flop of 6h-4s-10h and was called by Le with 9d-6c .

The turn and river brought 2h and 7s, leaving Le forfeiting much of her stack and walking into the next crucial hand with just seven big blinds.

Teusl put all-in with As-3h, Le called. The board brought 10s-Jc-2s-5h-Kc and thus the victory for the Austrian.

She said:

i feel so lucky I had such a crazy time at the WSOP this year! I got my biggest live cash on Monster Stack and now I’m winning a bracelet. […] We’re going to party now! We have two bracelets to celebrate. But first I really need to call my mom now!

Next up is the main event, said the Austrian. Time will tell if their run WILL continue.
