In Luxembourg: The Agricultural Fair is a hit with more than 40,000 visitors

ETTELBRUCK – The Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair brought together even more people this weekend than before the pandemic in 2019.
Children happy to find farm animals, parents delighted to drink, eat together and discuss with actors from the agricultural world. After a 100% digital edition in 2020 then a hybrid fair in 2021, limited to just over 8,000 spectators, the Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair was a hit all weekend. The ransom of success, access to Ettelbruck from the A7 even had to be blocked by the police, as the traffic had become complicated.
“We named 10,000 people on Friday, 18,000 on Saturday and we are probably still at 15,000 to 20,000 this Sunday. In total, we have exceeded 40,000 and the attendance of 2019 (38,500)”, underlined Jeff Boonen, member of the organization. Filled, he told of visitors and exhibitors “happy to meet again. It is a very important recognition also for all the volunteers of the agricultural organizations who are struggling”.
“Responsibilities in terms of greenhouse gases”
For the sector, “this fair is a real challenge”, insists Jeff Boonen. Both to try to recruit new forces or to discuss the issue of climate change. “We are victims of this and we also have responsibilities in terms of greenhouse gases”. Agriculture would thus be the source of approximately 9% of emissions in Luxembourg.
The fair was also an opportunity to invite people to buy local. “We can’t find everything locally, but it’s important to see this recognition of our professions. It’s a story of trust, a story of men that this fair helps to strengthen,” insists Jeff Boonen.
In parallel, the event was streamed online with the hope that the videos extend a little the Fair next week and the following ones.
