ATP: Thiem meets a qualifier at the start in Salzburg – sports mix
Salzburg – Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, 2:08 p.m
After a break of more than six weeks, Dominic Thiem returns to tournament tennis on Tuesday (around 6 p.m. / live ORF Sport+) with a home advantage.
The Lower Austrian is making his comeback at the ATP Challenger in Salzburg and is dealing with a qualifier in the first round.
The former number three in the world rankings insists on his first win in around 400 days. Thiem suffered a wrist injury at the lawn tournament in Mallorca on June 22 last year and has lost all seven games since his comeback.
Lichtenwörther, who has meanwhile slipped to 346th place, played his last game on May 22nd at the French Open, when he lost in the first round to the Bolivian Hugo Dellien in three sets. Since then, Thiem has inserted training blocks in Traiskirchen and most recently in Barcelona.
