WARSAW

Warsaw. Young athletes were supposed to go to the championships, but they got stuck at the airport. They slept in Poland

Sugar Mizzy July 2, 2022

Several dozen people – the U18 team of athletes – had to spend the night from Friday to Saturday at Warsaw Chopin Airport, waiting for a flight to Israel. What it meant with the terrible weather and the transformation of the overall relationship. The athletes stayed overnight on the stage. Only after 20 hours of travel after them to the hotel.

We received information about the situation of the athletes on Kontakt 24. In the situation with tvnwar.pl, it was later described by one of the coaches of the team, Maciej Bukowiecki. According to him, the entire team at Chopin Airport arrived on Friday around 7pm. The flight was scheduled for 11.50pm. It ended with the first speeches that it would be delayed by an hour, then by progress. – about to leave at 1.35. Until 2 o’clock, however, no one is obligated, we do not know what to do. At 2 o’clock a gentleman came out and said that the flight was not on the site. They ordered still waiting and waiting for the queue – he described.

Hotel after 20 hours

The competitors were to be provided with accommodation in a hotel, but it turned out that this one was overcrowded. – We slept on stage. Now it’s exactly 20 years since our new arrival at the airport and the decision we have just made. We got a voucher for a hotel taxi and for meals – a trainer / coach.

The competitors who are to start in Jerusalem are born in 2005 and 2006. There are 40 of them in total, boys and girls. The team also includes 15 of the training staffs: trainers, trainers, physiotherapists, psychologist, doctor and team leader. Everyone – about 50 people – spent the night at the airport.

It is not known whether they will make it to the start

How was the night at the airport? – I think we picked up our luggage, we waited for them for two hours, around 4 or 5 in the morning. And I say there will be no hotel for us. We walked in here where the checks are and we took a space there, we lay down on someone. It was already hard. We slept, but since the morning no one could help us for so many hours. You can see that it was a long time, but it lasted a long time – described Bukowiecki.

We should 18 teachers fly to Israel on Saturday evening, o – At the beginning, it was suggested that we ourselves, so that we could put the camera, on Monday at 2 pm. 9 people are already starting by noon. They stuck us somewhere and the first group of 18 students is to fly tonight, tomorrow two students will fly, who will have a Monday evening start. These are discomforts from me from the group and the rest will supposedly fly out on Monday at 2 pm This is the plan – he wrote further.

Will they make it? – If you do everything to plan, everyone will start. Only I’m responsible for a group of disc and ball throwers, and today light girls who are to start in the ball. Tomorrow they will fly which are to start in the disk, and I ran out of space. Being able to cope on your own. Team leader Marcin Góra will help them, and I will get there – a coach. And he added: – I already told them that they want me to be at their competition to be able to access the finals and then we will meet.

The European Athletics Championships in Jerusalem are scheduled to run from 4 to 7 July.

Alternate flight through sick and overload conditions

First, we asked LOT Polish Airlines. “The Tel Aviv cruise was provided on 1 July due to the conditions of the people, as well as the flight service of Chopin. The representation of young athletes was taken care of, a hotel was provided. Part (20) will depart for Tel Aviv tonight, in the evening, while the other 30 , Monday, Monday, which appointed people uses employees – we read the response of the press office.

The spokeswoman for Chopin Airport, Anna Dermont, also commented on the situation. – The reciprocal flight of PLL LOT to Israel was departed from the reason that it deviated from the provision of the interval. Passengers on this cruise have not cleared through baggage check-in, established and maintained during the rescue period. Airport staff offered support – she said.
