Ukraine can become a member of the EU in 5 years, – Stefanishyna
Ukraine can join the EU in record time, just as it received the status of a candidate for the EU.
About this told Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna on Ukrainian Radio.
“It’s up to ten years, up to five years,” Stefanishyna replied to the presenter’s question about the terms of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
She said that the specific dates depend not only on how ready we are, but also on the fact that each country presiding over the EU wants to receive its dividends from Ukraine’s membership.
“Ukraine will not delay in doing its homework, and we certainly will not allow the expansion process to be delayed,” the Deputy Prime Minister assured.
It was previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Speaker of Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal signed a joint statement regarding Ukraine’s strategic goal of full membership in the EU.
