“The posture of the unions weakens the support”, regretted the management of the university hospital of Toulouse last week. Faced with this message sent to the entire hospital community, the movement of strike continued in the emergency department of thePurpan Hospital. A new episode in this conflict which highlights the anger of the strikers which has been running for several weeks.

In order to find the solutions best suited to the situation and to meet the demands of the population, the hospital is trying to provide answers by announcing in particular recruitments in several departments.

“Management confirms its commitment to support the teams in view of an increased activity and workload since the beginning of 2022.”

Faced with this need to find answers quickly, several analyzes were carried out by the hospital management at the level of activity or the organization of the patient journey.

Following this, management proposed a step-by-step increase in staff. It was thus agreed to “recognize the teams and organizations through the validation of additional professionals: 16 in the adult emergencies of Purpan, 9 in the adult emergencies of Rangueil and 6 in the psychiatric emergencies”.

In addition, the hospital “commits to reviewing the development of the activity each year and to readjust the workforce over time if necessary”.

“For several months, the CHU has been pursuing a voluntary recruitment policy for all services (CDI upon hiring, reduction of recruitment times, perpetuation of statuses), in order to fill the 120 vacant nursing positions. »

Efforts extended to several sectors

If the crisis is brewing in the emergency room, many sectors of the hospital have been plagued by major difficulties for months now. Problem identified by the University Hospital of Toulouse. “Our priority is to recruit new competent professionals for vacant nursing positions within the CHU’s care services, particularly in hematology – oncology, cardiology, geriatrics, vascular neurology and for transplant activity”, specifies the management of the hospital. ‘hospital.

These efforts are particularly necessary to ensure the hospitalization of scheduled patients. The point of all this is to make the patient journey more fluid.

A new on-call medical center in Purpan in July

In addition to the care access service (SAS), also tested in Montauban and Moissac, the management of the Toulouse University Hospital announces the opening of a medical care center in Purpan which will be put into service in mid-July.

“Organizational solutions, inside and outside the CHU and with the support of the ARS, are being worked on at department level to avoid saturation of psychiatric emergencies. This approach necessarily associates the CHU, the CH Gérard Marchant, private clinics and liberal psychiatrists. »
