Cologne: CSD street festival 2022 on the first weekend in July – with over a million revelers
“After the CSD Veedel is before the CSD street festival,” says the Cologne Lesbian and Gay Day Association (KLust), which is co-organizing the event. But how exactly is the street festival going this year? Of course there will also be a big CSD demo in Cologne in 2022. It will take place on Sunday, July 3, 2022. But even before that things are hot.
Around the demo there is again the CSD street festival in the old town of Cologne (Cologne city center) throughout the weekend. The stages are set up days in advance. “We expect over a million people to take to the streets together for the rights of the LGBTIQ* community and to celebrate together. Be there and let’s celebrate in all the colors of the rainbow,” says the organizers happily in advance.

In addition to several information and sales stands, there will also be several stages again this year. The organizer expects a “full and varied program”. Among them are certainly well-known singers and DJs. But it doesn’t stop there, as KLuST spokesman Hugo Winkels confirmed in an interview with 24RHEIN. “There is a real top act.”
It was Tim Bendzko. But the singer had to cancel on Sunday due to illness. “Sometimes things don’t go as planned. In the middle of the biggest CSD demo that Cologne has ever seen, we got the message that two of Tim Bendzko’s band members fell ill with Corona. We’re phoning our fingers sore to get a proper replacement. We can do it – many. Together. Strong! It really hurts our hearts😥🏳️🌈❤️”, the organizer announced on Sunday afternoon.
A replacement was found in the early evening: “You are a part of us 🌈 ❤️You can always rely on us Cologne residents…”, KLuST continues. Because suddenly the Bläck Fööss jump in and “sweeten the finale on the Heumarkt.” The concert is free of charge. There is no entrance fee. In addition to the concerts, there are also readings and discussions. Mr Gay Germany will moderate the program on the Alter Markt on Friday.
Actually, the star DJ Felix Jaehn should also perform. But the 27-year-old has to cancel at short notice for personal reasons. “We are extremely sorry to have to inform you that we unfortunately received a cancellation from Felix Jaehn at short notice for the performance at the CSD street festival in Cologne on July 2nd, 2022,” announced KLuST on June 22nd. “In the period reserved for Felix Jaehn, we will present the audience with a very good DJ alternative on our stage,” the club continues to promise.
CSD 2022 has a goal for Cologne: the most colorful city in Germany
The goal for the CSD street festival 2022: Cologne should become the most colorful city in Germany on the first weekend in July. Some of the administration employees are also helping, as the city of Cologne announced at the end of June. On Saturday, July 2nd, the honorary award for long-term and tireless efforts for every area of the LGBTIQ* community will be presented. There are also many other program items.
