“The soap opera of the French” & “Calais, the last chance” this July 3 on France 2
To discover this June 26 on France 2 in “1:15 p.m., on Sunday”, a new episode of the 9th season of the series “The French soap opera” followed by the document “Calais, the last chance”.
“The soap opera of the French”
“1:15 p.m., Sunday” went to hear from the young bakers of Normandy Leah and Alexander, who took a two-week summer vacation for the first time in their lives.
Direction Belle-Ile-en-Mer, in the department of Morbihan, where Elsa settled down to start a small business. She rents a dozen donkeys to tourists for rides on the coastal path…
For this document, signed Julie Darde, Cyril Zaha and Vincent Martinthe “1:15 p.m.” tells a nice story of start-up, that of Victoire, based on an application to cook without breaking the bank… The right idea, at the right time, for a certain success.
Dive also behind the scenes of a trip by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron in Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, where he notably came across Xavier-Bertrand and Michael Barnier. And passage to the Fête de l’Humanité, the unmissable event for declared candidates… and those who are not yet declared.
“Calais, the last chance”
Direction Calais, in the department of Pas-de-Calais, in the Hauts-de-France region, a city that has long been associated with the “jungle”, a kind of shantytown where nearly 13,000 migrants ended up rubbing shoulders. An improbable city, filmed by cameras from all over the world. And the images of its dismantling in October 2016 went around the world. What has become of the “jungle” today, five years later? Is the city of Calais still the starting point for England?
Candidates for exile tried their luck in the trucks using the Channel Tunnel, but under pressure from the British government, the port and the roads were protected. The city is barricaded. Taking the sea to come has become a solution for migrants who have never stopped: their number has doubled this year. They would be around 1,600 and many cross the Channel. On board inflatable boats called “small boats”, men, women and children, always in excess… There would have been around 12,000 passages in 2021, or 50% more in one year.
For this document, signed Cyril Zha, Edouard Mounier, Patrice Brugère and Nicolas Berthelotthe magazine “1:15 p.m.” followed the police, who watch at night and try to prevent departures. Despite the large force deployed at sea and on land, the mission is difficult. Less than 50% of landings obtained to be intercepted. Meeting with residents at the forefront of this migration crisis. As Loic Fontaine and her crew of the Sainte-Catherine Labouré fishing in the midst of crossings and rescue operations…
For more than ten years, Brigitte Lips has never stopped bringing aid to migrants: food, drink and what to charge their mobile phones. The father Philippe Demeestere, a priest in Calais, helps migrants who have not managed to cross to England to integrate into France and obtain papers. And finally, Firas, a 29-year-old Syrian: he left his country and hopes to be able to go to England one day.
