Prague municipality straight fences on private land. Their owners did not know about the plan in advance — ČT24 — Czech Television
The Stav Projekt Praha company was instructed to remove the fences from the municipality, which has been working on the reconstruction of the dilapidated U Hruška falconry in Motol since 2018. He also wants to modify its adjacent surroundings, which are marked as a heritage-protected area. It is directly adjacent to seven private plots.
The original plan was to remove the fences on all seven plots of land as part of the reconstruction and replace them with new ones. However, their owners did not know about the plan, and later disagreed with it. However, the company has already managed to remove the fences on two plots of land.
The owners of these lands believe that the municipality made a mistake twice. “One level is that it was not right to remove them, especially without notifying us beforehand. The second level is that the fence was ours and they actually stole it from us,” complains Jana Bezemková, the owner of one of the removed fences. It was she who built a new plot of land only two years ago. Its construction cost more than 20 thousand crowns. That is why she decided to report the disappearance of the fence to the police as a theft.
However, according to the city, it is not possible to determine the ownership of the parcels according to any legislation. “But the unwritten rule is the consent of all parties. Unfortunately, in this case, there was a mistake and the information was sent to the residents before the work started, for which we apologize, the spokesperson of the municipality, Vít Hofman, later explained the situation.
“The city has acknowledged the wrongdoing, matters have been clarified. The part of the fence that was removed will be returned to its original state,” announced the head of the capital’s land administration, Radovan Borlovan. According to him, the removed fences can be installed on Monday at the city’s expense.
