Handball: Portugal’s group at the World Cup almost repeats the European
Portugal got to know this Saturday the group that will face in the World Cup that disputes in January 2023 in Sweden and Poland.
The team coached by Paulo Jorge Pereira was in a group with two more European teams, in what is almost a repeat of this year’s European group.
Portugal in group D with Iceland, Hungary and South Korea. The Asian team «replaces» the Netherlands, in relation to the European one. Portugal will play a group stage in Sweden, more specifically in the city of Kristianstad.
The «Heroes of the Sea» were lucky in the team in pot 1 they got lucky, Iceland, which would, in theory, be the weakest of the seeds. On the other hand, they take on Hungary, led by Chema Rodríguez, Benfica coach, who was the strongest team in pot 3, which predicts a lot of balance in the group.
It should be noted that the top three in each group qualify for the next stage.
