Federal General Assembly with new elections in Austria
The Federal Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Austria meets on May 21 for the general assembly with new elections in the Hoftaverne in Vorchdorf. Federal Chairman Cons. In addition to the chairmen of the state association, Manfred Schuller was able to welcome the pastor Wolfgang Dienesch and his wife from Gmunden and Georg Breckner, curator of the Evangelical Church in Vorchdorf and Stadl-Paura. In his words of welcome, Pastor Dienesch emphasized that the culture of remembrance is of great importance.
Georg Breckner reported on his book, published in 1999, about his home town of Tschippendorf. He is active as a curator in the parishes of Vorchdorf and Stadl-Paura, which are now a joint parish. He wished the meeting a good course and pointed out that after the general meeting, there would be a tour of the museum in the Kitzmantel factory in Vorchdorf, which also houses a Transylvanian home corner.
After the commemoration of the dead, the minutes of the last General Assembly on May 16, 2020 were confirmed. The following reports. Manfred Schuller referred, among other things, to the cultural summer 2022, which was taking place for the first time in Siebenbrücken, with over 100 events in places.
Ingrid Schuller reported on this year’s “10. Transylvanian Cultural Autumn in O”, an anniversary that started on September 17th in Wels with a celebratory concert by the well-known “Baroque Ensemble Transylvania” from Cluj-Napoca. Furthermore, there is a cooperation with Landeskultur GmbH for the department for culture and customs. (formerly State Museums O). In the exhibition “Tracht meets Dirndl” in Bad Ischl, historical costumes from the countries of the Danube monarchy are discussed. An old traditional costume from Urwegen is also on display here.
In the final new elections, MinR iR Mag. Jur. Ludwig Niestelberger took over the election management. Christl Morenz as Federal Treasurer and Mag. Rolf Morenz as Federal Secretary are stepping down from their positions after 20 years. As very reliable functions, they both performed their offices. It should also be emphasized that this decision to relinquish your office was met with tears and a smile on the part of the Management Board. Weeping because the Morenz couple are resigning from the board, and laughing because the new cashier is Lieselotte Pitter from Rosenau, who in future will be in charge of the important fortunes of the federal association together with DI Franz Peter Seiler from Vacklabruck as her deputy. As the newly elected federal secretary, Ingrid Schuller will also do her best. There are also personnel changes among the auditors. Michael Schneider from Wels, Dipl.-Ing. Reinhard Frank from Vienna and Heidemarie Schubert, also from Vienna.
With a bouquet of flowers for Christl Morenz and a sweet surprise for Mag. Rolf Morenz, the board thanked them for their outstanding work in the federal government. It was a pleasure to work with them for so many years, thanks to the re-elected Federal Chairman Manfred Schuller. The applause of all those present underlined the thanks to the couple.
After the general assembly, we walked together to the museum that had been set up in the stone mantle factory. This is a former 100 year old leather and shoe factory that has been converted into a museum above the town of Vorchdorf and an events venue. The Transylvanian Corner includes a costume from Northern Transylvania, a church fur and other exhibits worth seeing. The refugee trek from Tschippendorf arrived in Vorchdorf on November 16, 1944 with a total of 309 people (men, women and children).
