The Prime Minister, António Costa, considers the Lisbon Declaration approved at the last United Nations Ocean Conference to be the path for the coming years in defense of the global cause.

In his, António Costa stresses that the Lisbon Declaration adopted this Friday “points the way for the coming years in defense of the Oceans”.

“Several commitments were made here, which demonstrates the importance of this conference”, which took place on Monday at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, maintained the prime minister.

António Costa also pointed out that the oceans “are a global cause”, and “require urgent action and cooperation between peoples around the world”.

“We will continue to work to achieve this cause”, he added.

In the closing plenary of the 2nd UN Ocean Conference, a declaration was prepared on the defense of the oceans, in a session that was chaired by the Portuguese State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The consensual adoption of the text, entitled “Our ocean, our future”, which will be known as the Lisbon Declaration, the conference that for five days is responsible for representatives of more than a hundred countries, including heads of state and government.
