– Absolutely awful – VG
Flight after flight has been canceled or postponed from London to Stavanger. For Philip and his wife, the chaos caused them to miss a wedding.
Despite the fact that it is still not clear whether there will be a SAS strike, among other things, canceled flights and a lack of personal trouble for passengers at several airports in Europe.
Get an overview: These planes are set today and tomorrow
On Friday night, the Norwegian flight that was to depart at 21.15 from London Gatwick to Stavanger Airport Sola, was canceled.
On Saturday afternoon, the passengers are still sitting at the airport waiting to return home. Many of them have spent the night on the floor. Well it’s coming to an end one night at the airport.
– We have been sitting here for 48 hours without information about food and hotel. All hotels in London are fully booked, says Matteo Vallotto to VG.
– It is a shame to see that people have to sleep on the floor, families with children with small children who cry and who someone is likely to have to cover themselves at the end of a night.
– No help to get
First, the flight to Stavanger was postponed immediately on Friday night. Then came the message that the plane was postponed until 12 o’clock on Saturday, before there was a message that it should leave at 15 o’clock, Vallotto says.
– We are put on the plane Friday night for three hours without air conditioning or access to water. It was absolutely awful.
Several are notified of new flights, either to Oslo or Copenhagen. But the departures are not until Sunday, according to Vallotto.
– It’s so miserable of Norwegian. We have been in a telephone queue for two hours and were sent to Norwegian’s information desk, but there was none. There is no help to be had, Vallotto despairs.
Wrecked wedding plans
Filip Johansen and his wife Emma were also to travel to Stavanger with the relevant plane on Friday night, to attend a wedding on Saturday.
They were also not allowed to book into the hotel, and therefore also had to sleep at the airport until Saturday.
– We have a new flight on Sunday at 10 am to Copenhagen. So it’s going to be a new night of fighting over hotels. So far, all hotels we have contacted are fully booked.
Later Saturday afternoon, however, Filip says that they have been lucky to get a hotel room for the night.
– When I went down to check, the man at the counter informed me that it was another guest who wanted to look at the room before he booked. In the little time he did, I got it booked. Now he has to find another place to sleep. Many others are not as lucky as us.
Is your holiday in danger? You have three options if your flight is canceledt.
– Chaos
– How do you want the situation to reach?
– It’s chaos. Child laughs and many sit on phones to try to book hotel. People are frustrated with how to get home. Nobody wants to sleep on the floor another night, says Filip Johansen.
– What information have you received from Norwegian?
– It’s very limited. They say that we can go to the gate for information, but at the gate we are told to contact Norwegian as they have no more information.

– Sorry
Norwegian communications consultant Silje Glorvigen tells VG that the reason they had to postpone the flight on Friday night was due to a technical fault on the plane.
– We had hoped that we would be able to correct the mistake overnight in order to be able to fly our passengers home the next day, but the part we needed to fix the plane was delayed and we therefore had to cancel the flight.
Glorvigen says that their customer service does the best they can to take care of affected passengers. And that if passengers have to spend the night as a result of the cancellation, they must get this covered.
– Many of the hotels near Gatwick are unfortunately fully booked, but our customer service works as best they can to provide hotels for all affected passengers for the night. We understand that this is a frustrating situation for affected passengers, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
