A3 / Wollerau SZ: Rear-end collision in the leaf tunnel
At around 6 a.m., a 33-year-old driver drove his car on the A3 towards Zurich. For reasons that are not yet known, the driver in the Blatt motorway tunnel hits the rear of a minibus that is driving in front of him. As a result of the collision, the minibus skidded, turned on its own axis and came to a standstill in the opposite direction of travel. The two drivers and the two passengers in the minibus were not injured.
As a result of the collision, a more than 100-metre-long track was created in the tunnel, which was measured and photographed by specialists from the Zurich cantonal police. The traffic first had to be guided past the accident site in one lane and then transferred to the tube towards Chur. In addition to the canton police, the civil engineering office of the canton of Zurich is also on duty with the national road maintenance service.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office of the canton of Schwyz. The Zurich cantonal police monitors the section of the A3 motorway between Wollerau and the Reichenburg junction on behalf of the canton of Schwyz.
