President of the Futsal Association of Russia (AMFR) Emil Aliyev In a conversation with Match TV, it was reported that UEFA retains the highest representation of Russian clubs in the 2023/24 Champions League if everyone is captured.

In early May, the UEFA executive committee made a number of decisions on the participation of Russian clubs and teams in tournaments under the auspices of the organization. Russian futsal clubs will not be allowed to compete in European competitions, the Russian men’s team is excluded from the selection of the 2024 World Cup, the women’s team is not allowed to the Women’s Final Four of Euro 2022, and is also excluded from the selection for the women’s European championship.

– The decisions imposed on us hit the futsal teams very hard. Our team is no coincidence in the selection for the World Cup (2024). After this World Cup there will be a pause of two years until the end of the selection. Accordingly, we are on pause in the FIFA system and the world championships until 2026,” Aliyev told Match TV. “But we do not give up and do not lose heart. We believe that we will start the selection for the European Championship 2026, the selection for this competition will begin in 2024.

– How will the Russian team live in this situation?

– In the protocol of friendly matches, tournaments. A lot of work has already been done – we are invited to Iran for the “Caspian Cup” in December. It presents the characteristics of the national teams of Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan. For us, this is a great tournament. We also received a suggestion from educational colleagues about the presence of a series of friendly matches throughout the season from September to April between national teams of all ages among men and women.

– Are there any other proposals for friendly matches from other teams, except for Portugal?

— There are proposals from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. There is communication with China and Thailand. There are special ones from the Serbian national team.

– Is there an exact agreement on a specific topic with one of these teams?

– We have an exact calendar, but who we will play specifically on this date will be decided during July. We are coordinating statistics, but we have deliberately shifted towards national games so that they do not fall into the games of our rivals in FIFA.

– Konstantinevsky will lead the Russian men’s team?

– We have an agreement with the RFU that Mayevsky will act as head coach. Sergei Belokurov, who, due to tension, should enter the coaching staff. Gennady Garagulya is going to work with goalkeepers. Belokurov, who presents himself very well with youth teams, will be Mayevsky’s girlfriend. Evgeny Kuzmin and Mikhail Kryukov.
