From Monday July 4, 2022, your bank card will be able to become your ticket! Tisseo is testing, as a preview, a new contactless payment service on the airport shuttle Toulouse Blagnac.
“No more paper tickets, no more waste”
This line was chosen by Tisséo. And for good reason, on this one we find many occasional travelers (one-day user, tourists, delegates, etc.), one of the targets of this new payment service.
According to the Toulouse Métropole public transport network, this system offers many advantages in terms of:
- of innovation: the bank card becomes a ticket.
- time saving: no need to buy a ticket beforehand.
- simplicity: in one beep the ticket is paid for and validated.
- eco-responsibility: no more paper tickets, no more waste.
- security: a payment that meets security standards for commercial transactions and complies with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) standards.
How it works ?
In the airport shuttle, travelers will find black validators with the contactless payment logo. This is where you have to present your bank card or smartphone.
After this step, if you hear a high-pitched beep and the validation icon lights up green, your journey has been validated. Otherwise – the icon with a red cross – your journey is not validated. In this case, you must buy a ticket directly from the driver or on the Tisséo application (a feature that is currently only available on Android devices).
Finally, in the event of an inspection, all you have to do is show your card or your smartphone to the Tisséo controller.
On the entire network from 2023?
“Contactless payment is one of the new uses for more connected and more fluid mobility, but also more responsible with the elimination of tickets. Contactless payment is included in Tisséo’s MaaS (Mobility as a Service) program, which aims to simplify the user journey through technological innovation,” explains Nicolas Misiak, President of Tisséo Voyageurs.
If the test is conclusive on the airport shuttle, the system could be successful on the entire Tisséo network and all modes in 2023.
