SORRENTO (ITALPRESS) – An event dedicated to young people, to those who will be the leaders of tomorrow, to imagine a different future, a more sustainable tourism, following the guiding principles of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The Secretary of State of San Marino Federico Pedini Amati thus reached the town of Sorrento yesterday, to take part in the first edition of the Global Youth Tourism Summit-GYTS, an event created by the World Tourism Organization together with ENIT – National Agency of Italian Tourism.
The Global Youth Tourism Summit is a new platform that aims to give young people the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes in the tourism sector. Starting from June 27th and until July 3rd, more than 130 young people from over 60 countries around the world have taken and will take part in international events, workshops and other educational initiatives, which aim to create a unique platform to share and discuss ideas and shape visions for the future of the hospitality sector.
Also present were two young girls from the Republic of San Marino, Lucrezia Piergiovanni and Rebecca Mini, who the Secretary held a meeting to get valuable feedback on the experience of these days.
And just in the morning, the Ministers and diplomats of many of the UNWTO member countries, together with the Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili and the Italian Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia, met the many young people present in Sorrento, in what was a real intergenerational plenary. Many questions were asked to the Ministers of Tourism of over 10 countries around the world present in the room: among the most important topics the impact of digital technologies on the future of the sector and the attention, through concrete actions, to the weakest sections of society, as well as than to environmental sustainability.
The summary of the documents conducted in these days in Sorrento had its most representative act in the initialed in the afternoon plenary, called “Sorrento Call to Action – Youth for a Sustainable Tourism”, which dictates the guidelines for the tourism of the future, with in the center the 3 Ps: People, Planet, Prosperity.
The Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati took advantage of the international showcase for the evolution of the tourism project launched in 2020, with the establishment of the The Lovely Places brand, the launch of the app and site dedicated to it, the non-repayable loan received by the European Travel Commission, a body co-financed by the European Union.
He then had a long bilateral meeting with the Italian Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia and the Minister for Youth Policies Fabiana Daddone, inviting both of them to take part in what will be the third act of The Lovely Places project, which will be held at the Kursaal Congress Center. of San Marino on July 29th.
