The The City of Helsinki has chosen YIT as its developer Kamppi’s health and a wellness center. The project begins in the development phase and will be implemented as a collaborative project. The estimated total value of the construction project is EUR 77 million, which can be reviewed as the development phase progresses. The development phase project will be included in the order backlog in the third quarter of 2022 after a two-week complaint period. The project covers about 18,000 gross square meters.
The planning of the development phase begins in v September 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year February 2023. At the end of the development phase, it will be decided to move to an implementation phase lasting about four years.
Kamppi’s health and the Welfare Center will be built in the street and market area bordered by Runeberginkatu, Fredrikinkatu, Kampinkuja and Salomonkatu, where the flag hall of Kamppi metro station is currently located. The street level of the new building will include business premises and the reception area of the health center. Floors 2-8 will have the facilities of the Health and Wellness Center with their technical facilities. The property will also have two basement floors as well as an underground entrance and a loading area for maintenance traffic. The project also includes the demolition of the west door and ticket hall of Kamppi metro station and the renovation of the entrance. The street areas will also be rehabilitated in the vicinity of the project.
The bright and architecturally unique and impressive building changes the street view of the Kamppi area. The outer surface is designed with ceramic plank. The project offers southern residents Helsinki easily accessible, diverse, modern and competitive public social and health services.
The project aims for four stars in the RTS environmental rating. The design focuses on the maintainability, serviceability and life cycle sustainability of the building. The premises will be made for flexible changes for future needs as well.
The client of the project is KOy Helsingin Toimilat Oy and Competent Representative for Urban Environment Facilities Services. The construction consultant is Rapp Surveillance Consultants, the main design of the project is done by PES Architects, the structural design by Ramboll, the building services design by Granlund and the solutions such as geotechnical, traffic and street design by Sitowise.
