San Marino. The Second Tower reopens to the public tomorrow
From tomorrow, Saturday 2 July 2022, the Second Tower will reopen to the public (opening hours: from 9.30 am to 11 pm) in the Republic of San Marino.
“At the Second Towerheadquarters of the Museum of Ancient Arms, works have been underway since January 2022 by the Autonomous State Company for public works aimed at the construction of a new ticket office and new technological systems – explain the Cultural institutes in a note -. The control interventions and archaeological surveys were completed between February and March, carried out by Tecne Srl and by the Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences of the CNR of Rome with the coordination of the Archaeological Section of the Cultural Institutes. Among the finds of greatest interest, for the reconstruction of the history and the oldest building phases of the Second Tower, in the courtyard, under the contemporary pavement, the remains of a mighty wall structure referable to the ancient walls of the fortification were identified “.
The Museum of Ancient Weapons “was temporarily dismantled by the Cultural Institutes, State Museums, which also checked the stratigraphy of the plasters of the museum rooms in agreement with the construction management in order to recover and restore the original color of the environments built by the engineer Gino Zani “.
The summer opening “will allow you to visit the Second Tower complex and the spaces of the Museum, which will be set up starting in September with the resumption of work”.
Sunday 3rd Julyat 5.30 pm, a concert (admission subject to availability) organized by cultural institutes in collaboration with the San Marino music institute.
