Monkey bridges, zip lines: one hour from Toulouse, a city offers a spectacular novelty

It’s a extremely spectacular novelty to discover on the side of Mazamet in the Tarn, a good hour from Toulouse.
For several years, the Tarn city has offered a giant footbridge above the Arnette valley.
Since Friday 1uh July, it becomes even more a center of thrills in Occitania.
A Via Ferrata of 880 meters
Halfway between climbing and hiking, Mazamet is suitable for Via Ferrata.

Below the village of Hautpoul, the 880 meter long course offers exceptional views of the valley.
Besides the longest zipline, the Via Ferrat offers another zipline which is 120 meters long, while the last two are 80 meters long. Four rope bridges will also be proposed, including one of 12 meters.

This new Via Ferrata benefits from a continuous lifeline. This means that, unlike most via ferratas, practitioners no longer need to open their carabiners to cross each piton as they progress. You stay attached to the cable all along the route, which is more practical and also safer.
For an informed public
“It will take about 2h30 to complete this superb course. The tours offered are free and unaccompanied. They are therefore aimed at an informed public. For neophytes, we advise you to contact a qualified guide to schedule a first initiation”, nevertheless warns the site.
To celebrate its inauguration, a professional climbing instructor will be exceptionally present on site on July 2 and 3, announces the City of Mazamet.
Book in advance
However, you have to book. The equipment location takes place over half a day at 9:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. at the Mazamet tourist office (complete equipment except gloves strongly recommended). The equipment cannot be rented to a person under 1.35m tall and under 40kg.
