Farewell to the National, the AS Monaco reserve will face the Premier League teams – Sport.fr
Relegated to National 3 following a difficult season, AS Monaco made the decision not to join the French fifth division. Instead, the Monegasque reserve will compete in the Premier League International Cup.
Engaged in National 2, the reserve of AS Monaco had a difficult season whose outcome was relegation to the lower division as experienced by RC Lens, Olympique de Marseille or Montpellier. But this does not mean that the Monegasque Elite group, whose elements are mainly aged 19 to 21, will play in National 3. The club from the Principality has decided to participate in the prestigious Premier League International Cup to the detriment of the traditional French championship. A decision that has for but “ to optimize the training time of young players and to confront them more easily with the requirements of professionalism.”
“Through this new approach, the Club wishes to continue to strengthen the impact on the first team, like the nine players from the Academy who have started with the pros over the past two seasons”said Paul Mitchell to justify this new sporting direction.
