Cologne were dominant from the start, but at least in parts of the first half the state league was able to keep things open: After Hübers headed the lead (16th), Abdallah from Mondorf managed to equalize with a precise volley from around 40 meters ( 19.).
However, FC quickly restored the lead: 20-year-old Schwirten scored in the 25th minute. After more chances played but missed, it was Modeste who made it 3-1 (34′).
Baumgart’s new team finds each other and then scores nine times
During the break, Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart changed properly. The newly formed eleven first had to find their way around, but then after a little more than an hour they scored like a conveyor belt: Dietz (64′), Huseinbasic (66′), Maina (67′, 73′) and Schmid (70′) turned themselves in to 8:1 within nine minutes. Ehizibue (82′), again Dietz (86′) and Schmid (87′) as well as Martel (90′) scored four more goals in the closing stages to make it 12-1.
The start of the Cologne team in the pre-season has been successful. As part of the upcoming training camp in Donaueschingen, the next test match will take place next Friday (6 p.m.): The opponent will then be the Austrian Bundesliga club Austria Lustenau.
