Welcomes the Tour de France to Denmark with 16 tractors and 70 round bales
Denmark will set the stage for the world’s most famous cycling race, and thus become the tenth country to host the Grand Départ in the Tour de France in 2022.
The first three stages of the 109th edition will take place in Copenhagen on Friday and on to the southern part of the country.
In this connection, the company Dansk Maskincenter Jelling has hatched a project a little out of the ordinary.
– We had to come up with something. We quickly concluded that we had to turn to agriculture and the farmers, says Karin Skjoldemose in Dansk Maskincenter Jelling to Nationen.
Bicycle project
The 176 riders will first go out in a 13 kilometer individual time trial in Copenhagen. The second stage contains 199 kilometers through picturesque landscape from Roskilde to Nyborg. The third stage goes from Vejle to Sønderborg. Here, the riders will cycle past the town of Jelling in Jutland.
On one of the fields riders are scheduled to pass, Dansk Maskincenter Jelling will place a number of round bales in different sizes and colors that illustrate the bicycle frame, seat, handlebars, pedals and chain.
16 tractors must drive in a circle to illustrate moving bicycle wheels. According to Dansk Maskincenter Jelling, it will go with around 70 round bales.
– In the test video, there are four tractors on each wheel. On Sunday it will be eight on each wheel. The tractors help to give the bike a moving effect, says Skjoldemose.
That was the site landbrugsavisen.dk who first mentioned the case.
– A tribute
Dansk Maskincenter sells a number of well-known brands within agricultural machinery, including Massey Ferguson.
– With this, we wish and welcome the Tour de France to Denmark, at the same time as it is a tribute to the brand Massey Ferguson which is French, says Skjoldemose.
– We really hope that the helicopter catches this on Sunday, Skjoldemose.
