the Gaumont Wilson does not exist anymore ! But moviegoers can be reassured, the cinema located in the heart of Toulouse only changed name. Now you have to call her “Pathe Wilson”.
Proposed changes
The new gold letters were installed in mid-June on the storefront. Inside, the famous city center cinema, completely renovated in 2015, will undergo a few changes in the coming months:
“To always welcome you in the best conditions, we will equip our rooms, in the coming months, with unprecedented comfort armchairs, latest generation projectors, energy-efficient air conditioning, and we will modernize the hall to make your journey more fluid.”
Gaumont had been on display for over 100 years!
This change of name is part of the national strategy of Pathé Gaumont Cinemas, a subsidiary of the Pathé group. Indeed, since the summer of 2018, the company has been working to rename the “Gaumont” cinemas to “Pathé”.
The Gaumont brand had been inscribed since 1919 on the facade of the cinema facing Place Wilson. At the time, it was called “Gaumont-Palace Toulouse”. It will be necessary to wait until 1974 to know the famous “Gaumont Wilson”.
Eventually, there will therefore be no more Gaumont complexes in France. Like Wilson, that of Labege Should soon change its name to become Pathé Labège.
